Frequently Asked Questions

What is Third Space?

Third Space simplifies access to insurance-covered mental health care by bridging the gap between patients and therapists.

Is Third Space suitable for me?

Third Space could be the right choice if you're aiming to enhance your quality of life. If anything is interfering with your happiness or preventing you from reaching your goals, we might be able to help. Our therapists specialize in various issues, including stress, anxiety, relationships, parenting, depression, trauma, anger management, family conflicts, grief, self-esteem, and more.

However, Third Space is not the right solution for you if:

• You are experiencing an urgent crisis or emergency situation
• You are mandated to undergo therapy by a court order or other authority
• You don't have a device with internet access or do not have a reliable internet connection

Who will provide my therapy sessions?

After signing up, we'll pair you with a therapist who aligns with your goals, preferences, and specific issues. Since therapists have varying approaches and specializations, finding the right match for the best results is crucial. We usually succeed in making suitable matches, but if you feel your therapist isn't the right fit, you can request to be matched with a different therapist.

What qualifications do the therapists have?

Our therapists are highly trained professionals with the necessary education, experience, and credentials to provide quality care. Every therapist at Third Space meets rigorous standards to ensure compassionate, evidence-based support for our clients.

How are your therapists vetted?

Our team verifies that every provider on our platform is licensed and in good standing. Applicants must submit a valid license which we cross-reference with their state licensing board.

We also display full credential information for each provider, allowing you to conduct your own research on your therapist.

Can Third Space replace traditional in-person therapy?

The professionals at Third Space Therapy are licensed and credentialed therapists certified by their state's board to provide therapy. While our service offers many benefits, it may not replace traditional face-to-face therapy in every situation. Please be aware that your therapist cannot provide fulfill court orders or prescribe medication.

How much do I have to pay?

We accept several insurance plans, including Medicaid. Please check with your insurer for specific details about co-pays.

Is my confidentiality maintained by my therapist?

All therapists are licensed by their respective licensing boards after completing the required education, exams, training, and practice. This ensures that when you engage with a licensed therapist online, they adhere to the same mandated reporting and confidentiality requirements as in-office therapy, according to their governing board and state laws.

Generally, therapists will maintain the confidentiality of what you share, with a few exceptions. For instance, if you express intentions of serious harm to yourself or an identifiable victim, the therapist is obligated to report this to the relevant authorities. If you have any concerns or questions about these legal confidentiality obligations, please discuss them with your therapist before starting therapy.
